- tests/MRI/blood work/ consults
“I have seen Dr. Barber many times over the past 3 years..often because I needed tests/info/second opinion because, plainly put, was not satisfied with some medical advice/treatments. He ALWAYS took the time to walk me through what had occurred/could occur and options. He ordered X-Rays/MRI/blood work as needed. Even though I can be prickly (had some bad experiences in the past with other orthopedists), Dr. Barber invariably was professional, inspired trust and together we worked the issue. After seeing him, I always felt informed , calmed and secure that I was in good..very good hands.

- Right knee replacement
“I had my right knee replaced by Dr. Barber about 18 months ago. I was going through many medical problems at this time, ( 9 kidney stones, 4 in one kidney and 5 in the other kidney; severe degenerative rheumatoid arthritis and obesity.) other than my right knee collapsing and having unbearable, intolerable pain. My regular Orthopedic doctor, Dr. Whitespunner and the AOC staff, highly, highly recommended Dr. Barber for the knee replacement procedure. I had to start somewhere on the road back to health, and, for me the best place was to start was the knee replacement. I could not be more pleased. Dr. Barber spent as much time preparing me for the procedure as I needed and answered every question that I was concerned about before, during, and after the procedure. He is an outstanding surgeon, Christian man, and has a great sense of humor. He is extremely highly respected in his professional field. I knew I was in good hands when he prayed with me before the procedure and visited me many, many times before being released to go home. On that day, I had to use the wheel chair and crutches, I did not use crutches after I left the hospital. I used a walker for about a week with Gentiva Health Care attending to my needs at home. I went to a cane after a week and in less than a month was walking without and assistance. Upon followup visits he would ask how I was doing and was very pleased with my progress. Truthfully, I would not go to another Orthopedic Surgeon for a knee or hip replacement. This man is special. I thank Dr. S. Whitespunner and her staff for the recommendation that changed my life. After healing, I went on to lose 35-40 pounds, had the kidney stones removed and, now at 72 years of age, feel like I am 45 years old again. AOC also has some of the best Physical Therapists in the area, with Sandra, Scott, Leslie, and too many more to name. Everyone, from the appointment schedulers, assistants, nurses, assistive device fitters, x-ray, and more are so very helpful and greet you by name. This is the care that comes from a superbly trained staff and the best doctors in orthopedics, in my opinion. I have had over a dozen procedures at AOC over the last 20 plus years, and have never had any problems. They are a truly, people-caring community of medical professionals.”
